001 — who's writing this
I'm a developer based in Kathmandu — currently building internal banking systems at Jyoti Bikas Bank, mostly in PHP, Laravel and whatever the day demands. I studied Information Management at KIST College, where I learned that the interesting part of software was never really the syntax — it was the problem underneath it.
But this site isn't really about that. Development is one language I speak. There are others: the sound of a two-wheeler on an empty highway at 6am, the fifteen minutes before a Himalayan sunrise when the light does something a camera can never fully hold, the particular silence of a notebook page before anything is written on it.
I keep this site the way I keep a logbook — dated, located, half-finished, honest. Some entries are code. Some are coordinates. A few are just things I felt and didn't know where else to put.

002 — rides i've taken
SOLO RIDE · ROADHEAD FOR ROLWALING
Rode out alone toward Chet Chet — the last stretch of road before the Rolwaling valley takes over on foot. Tarmac gives way to gravel, then to forest, and the bike ends up parked in the quiet for a few days while the actual trek begins. This was the ride in, before Tsho Rolpa.
EASTERN NEPAL
Stopped on the bridge over the Koshi just to look at it properly instead of riding straight past. The river out here is a different animal from the one you see near Kathmandu — wider, slower, and somehow louder about it.
PROVINCE-BORDER RIDE
Some rides are memorable for the road. This one's memorable for the sign — the exact point where one province hands off to the next, an old steel bridge underneath, and nothing to do but get the thumbs-up photo before riding on.
003 — trails i've walked
4 DAYS · WITH FAMILY
Did this one with my two brothers, which changes a trek completely — less silence, more arguing about pace, and somebody always ready with a joke exactly when the climb gets miserable. Arriving at ABC together, watching Annapurna go from grey to gold with the two of them next to me, is a memory I keep going back to.
ALPINE LAKE TREK
Reached the lake in a snowfall so thick the water and the sky were nearly the same colour. Gosaikunda is a holy site for a reason — there's a stillness up there that has nothing to do with the altitude and everything to do with the place itself.
GLACIAL LAKE TREK
Started from Chet Chet on the bike, then walked the rest of the way in. Tsho Rolpa is a glacial lake fed straight off the ice — the water has that milky, mineral colour that doesn't look quite real. Planted the flag, stood there longer than I needed to, and understood exactly why.

RANI MAHAL · PALPA
Rode out to see it — the palace built by a grieving prime minister for his wife, half-forgotten on the bank of the Kali Gandaki. Shot it in black and white because colour felt like it would get in the way.
BOUDHANATH · AFTER DARK
The stupa looks different once the tour groups thin out — gold under floodlight, prayer flags still moving, the eyes watching the square go quiet.
SANKHU
A small-town mela and a hand-built ferris wheel that's been running longer than it probably should. Went for the view over the valley, stayed for the nostalgia.
KANKALI MANDIR
Stopped here mid-ride, more out of curiosity than plan. Pigeons had taken over the roof struts entirely, and nobody seemed to mind sharing the temple with them.
KATHMANDU · TIHAR
Climbed up for the view on one of the few nights a year the whole valley is strung with lights on purpose. From up here, Kathmandu stops looking crowded and starts looking like a constellation.
PATHIVHARA · TAPLEJUNG
One of the most-visited pilgrimage sites in eastern Nepal, tucked high above Taplejung. Photo to come — I'll swap this one out once I dig up the real shot.

007 — things i've built
Why: Branch staff at Jyoti Bikas Bank were losing hours a week to manual reporting and repetitive form-filling across departments.
Built a set of internal Laravel applications that automate report generation, streamline inter-department requests, and integrate with existing core-banking APIs. The hard part was never the CRUD — it was designing around a legacy system that couldn't change while everything around it did.
Why: I kept trip notes across four different apps and none of them cared about elevation, distance, or the story. So I started building the app this website secretly wishes it was.
A personal project for logging rides and treks with GPS traces, elevation profiles, and photo-paired journal entries. Still rough at the edges, still the project I open first when I have a free evening.
Why: Final year at KIST — wanted to prove a working store could be built end-to-end, not just prototyped.
A full e-commerce site with cart, checkout, and admin inventory management, built on Java and Spring JDBC after an earlier PHP version taught me most of what not to do the first time.

2014
Finished school in Kapan, Kathmandu — first laptop, first attempt at HTML.
2016
Bought a motorcycle. Didn't plan for it to become a habit.
2016 – 2021
Studied Information Management at KIST College. Built an e-commerce site twice — badly, then properly. Also opened the batting order for KIST in a college cricket tournament, which has nothing to do with software and everything to do with why I remember those years fondly.
2019
First developer role at INTUJI, Lalitpur — the first time code shipped to actual users.
2022
Joined Jyoti Bikas Bank as a developer — first serious encounter with legacy systems and real constraints.
2023
First real trek beyond the valley rim — Mustang, off-season, camera in one hand.
2024
Annapurna Base Camp. Started actually writing the poems instead of just thinking them.
2026
Rebuilt this site to finally look like the person writing it.
